All Foranimals classes are designed to be active and fun for
you and your dog. Positive training skills are emphasized and
reinforced. When your dog is rewarded for his successful efforts
rather than punished for his mistakes, learning is a quick and
enjoyable process for both of you. This is the focus of positive
reinforcement training. In every class you will learn how to
communicate clearly with your dog and when and how to reward
good behavior. You will also learn how to effectively change
unwanted behavior without the use of forceful or harsh punishment.
Since dogs (and people) are different in their learning styles and
needs, you move at your own pace. You will graduate from any
level of class knowing you have worked hard with your dog, made
progress, and understand your dog and the training process that
works best for you.
Classes are structured for real life learning with your companion
dog, rather than competitive obedience trials; families are
welcome to participate. Classes are 60 minutes in length, with
a 15 minute break between the end and start of any class. That
way you are guaranteed a full hour of class--never shortened
because the next group is waiting to begin--and you have plenty
of time for individual questions and socializing. Classes are
kept small so you receive quality attention for each exercise.
