Rally class is available for all who successfully complete Beginners Obedience Level 2, Private Training or demonstrate equivalent skill level. Limited to 8 students.
Rally-O is one of the best ways to make learning intermediate and advanced obedience skills really fun. It is becoming an increasingly popular dog sport for both pet dog training and competitive trials. Designed to promote positive and lively teamwork between dog and handler, you are encouraged to talk with your dog, praise her, clap your hands and use hand signals— which is very different from the more regimented competitive obedience.
Rally-O uses numbered directional signs to guide you and your dog through
a course. You heel from sign to sign, stop to perform the exercise described
on the sign and then move on to completion. Every course is laid out
differently and typically has 14-16 signs. Many of the exercises are
derived from “doodles” people
use when training for competitive obedience. There are a total of 50
exercises to learn in Rally-O which are divided into Novice, Advanced
and Excellent skill categories. In Introduction to
Rally-O you will learn
the first 30 skills and walk the course on leash. In Rally All Levels,
the degree of difficulty of the exercises increases and the course is
performed off leash.
Whether you are looking for a new training experience to build stronger
focus and better listening from your dog, improve your handling
skills, or prepare yourself for the Canine Good Citizen test
or Pet Therapy work OR you would like to compete with your dog
at an AKC or APDT Rally-O trial, these classes will be right
for you. Leea has competed with one of her dogs and as received
the AKC Rally Excellent title and will soon be starting her
youngest at the Novice level. Classes include:
- Guided learning in proper execution of each Rally exercise
- 1-2 new courses to walk each session
- Learning to read a course map and lay out a course
- Scoring and judging information and tips
